With this exhibition I wanted to interpret the visual stimulants that turn me on and drive me to paint. As a result, this exhibition is a direct communication with you about what I see and hear. Every stroke vibrates, has music. The choice of media, Chinese calligraphy materials, watercolor and pigments, represent the instruments I am most comfortable with.

The exhibition begins with a group of paintings constructed with bold lines - like looking through a magnifying glass. I am often moved by how a simple shape and curve take me deep into its/my essence.

The 320-inch PATH along the wall is made specifically for this space. Upon first seeing this exhibition hall, fear rushed me. It was not unlike the fear one feels when facing an empty canvas; your mind just goes blank! Eventually, I found refuge contemplating the long stone path of my own garden and the sights and sounds along it.

I take my brush strokes seriously. This approach comes from my long-term interest in calligraphy. Most often, however, it is the unintentional strokes - the precipitated accidents, that magically reveal a deeper dynamic. Juggling this interplay between intention and accident unleashes the alchemy of my media, and the rhythm and message of my work.
